Better Bus Stops Petition 2020

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has over 2,200 stops but less than 300 of them have shelters. Bus riders are often stuck in the hot sun or pouring rain as they wait for buses that only come every 30 minutes or more.

The RTA has made some progress, installing more than 30 shelters in the last two years. But that’s nowhere near enough! Riders demand a more dignified and comfortable transit experience and a basic part of that is more bus stop shelters.

Join Ride New Orleans in asking the Regional Transit Authority to budget for at least 25 new bus stop shelters for New Orleans transit riders in their 2021 budget by signing our petition TODAY!

Ride New Orleans is again asking for the Regional Transit Authority to commit to 25 new bus stop shelters in the 2021 budget.

In addition, we ask the Regional Transit Authority to

  • Continue to update riders and prioritize transparency through community engagement
  • Ensure equity by committing to prioritizing bus stops that have high ridership

Join Ride New Orleans as we ask that the Regional Transit Authority prioritize the comfort and dignity New Orleans transit riders by ensuring that this basic amenity is implemented in 2021 by signing this petition today!
