Hop on the bus and join the New Orleans Children and Youth Planning Board and RIDE New Orleans for a transit ride-along on Saturday, April 20th, 2024! We'll be the transit rider experience through an Opportunity Youth and 'Complete Streets' lens.

Is there signage at the bus stop? Are the sidewalks ADA-accessible? Does the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Le Pass app give us the proper information? Is the bus on time? Are there shelters and seats at our stops? Do OY have the resources they need to take transit with confidence? How will the Zero Fares for OY Pilot Program help create access and opportunities for youth riders?

We'll be looking for answers to these questions and learning more about our current transit system by playing Bus Stop Bingo along our route. 

Ride-Along Agenda:

• 10:00am - Meet outside Cafe Reconcile for bus passes, introductions, and instructions
• 10:30am - Leave Cafe Reconcile and head to bus stop
• 10:40am - Get on RTA #57 leaving from Simon Bolivar at St. Andrews
• 10:55am - Arrive at N. Claiborne at Laharpe and walk to the New Orleans Career Center (NOCC)
• 11:00am - Discuss what we observed
• 11:33am - RTA #91 departs Esplanade at Treme
• 11:48am - RTA#91 arrives at Cafe Reconcile
• 11:50am - Wrap up and prizes
• 12:00pm - End

How to Prepare for the Ride-Along:

• Download the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Le Pass app
• Dress for the weather, we will be outside waiting for the bus
• Wear comfortable shoes, as there may be some walking involved

Note: NOLA CYPB is covering the cost of bus fare for this ride-along. They will provide participants with physical bus passes on the day of the event. Please RSVP in advance so we can purchase the correct amount of passes. We still encourage you to download the RTA Le Pass app, as we will be utilizing it to plan our trip.
