The Canal streetcar lines are the spine of the regional transit system. They are a key transit line for thousands of riders along Canal Street and throughout the RTA system and beyond.
But too often those lines don’t work the way they should. Long waits and slow travel time mean big delays that lead to missed transfers and people being late for work, school, doctors’ appointments, and beyond.
Transit riders deserve better and we can and must do better as a city and a region. The RTA's Canal Streetcar pilot proposal is a smart and temporary way to test how innovative proposals can work to forward both local and city-wide community needs.
Therefore, we ask the RTA and City of New Orleans to move forward with the Canal Street pilot proposal. It's time to make our transit work better for the people of New Orleans!
