After more than two years it’s official – the New Orleans region will have a new transit system! On March 23, the RTA board approved the New Links regional network redesign proposal!

Dear RTA Board of Commissioners:

We would like to extend our thanks for your bold decision to move forward with redesigning our region’s transit system. 

Change is never easy, but the New Links proposal will mean a more equitable and functional transit system for everyone. An implemented New Links means:

• A doubling of the percentage of riders of color and lower income households that have access to fast and frequent transit

• A doubling of the number of transit lines that come every 20 minutes or less, seven days a week

• True regional connections between major jobs centers and between the parishes on the West Bank 

• Increased service and frequency for underserved communities like New Orleans East and Algiers 

We look forward to continuing to partner with you during the implementation process.
